Intensive Outpatient Program

Q:     What will my evening schedule look like?
A: Your treatment plan is tailored to fit your schedule. This is discussed and decided during the first meeting with your case manager.

Q: How long is the program?
A: The Intensive Outpatient Program is typically about three months in duration, tailored to meet the needs of your individual treatment plan.

Q: What groups does the program offer?
A: It provides a wide range of group topics. You and your case manager will select the groups and a schedule suited to your treatment needs. Groups include Process (sharing), assignment (work on homework and present to the group), Gender and Mindfulness Skills Training (learn specific skills for emotion regulation). The Center also provides psycho-educational lectures Monday – Friday on various topics related to recovery.

Q: What kind of therapy will I receive?
A: You will meet with your case manager weekly. The Sequoia Center believes that Group Milieu Therapy is the treatment model of choice. Thus, the primary therapy you receive will be from groups you attend at the Center and at outside 12-Step meetings.

Q: What can my family expect?
A: Sequoia is proud to be a premier provider of family treatment and support services. Once assessed and admitted, each client along with his/her family or significant other is assigned to a Multi-Family Group that meets weekly in a group setting. Immediately following the Multi-Family Group, the family/significant other attends a support group without the client. Soon after admission, the family and client meet with a family therapist to discuss the important family issues relating to recovery. This is scheduled at the earliest convenience of the family members.

Very Intensive Program

Q:     How is the Very Intensive Program different from the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)?
A: It is similar to IOP in that it is held in the evenings, uses the same groups available in IOP, and is based on the same group milieu principle. However, VIP is a shorter and more concentrated program that meets five nights per week, plus Saturday, for a total of four weeks.

Q: What is the cost of the Very Intensive Program?
A: All treatment costs are individualized depending on your insurance and your specific treatment entry point. Details of the costs are made available prior to admission.

Q: What if I want to continue after VIP?
A: You and your case manager can discuss available options which may include tapering down the intensity of your program to support sustainable recovery. Upon completion of the Very Intensive Program you may choose to enroll in our Continuing Care Program.

Q: What is Continuing Care?
A: Upon successful completion of the program, we provide Continuing Care groups to alumni. A client may attend one 90-minute group per week for one year, free of charge. This is an excellent support for all graduates. We strongly encourage this type of ongoing group support for long-term recovery.

Q: What if I decide not to continue treatment?
A: At The Sequoia Center, all treatment is voluntary. This should be discussed with your case manager.
